Explorer Ship #347 Status Report
Successful contact was made with a human. Earthling displayed alarm at first sighting. Following usual protocol, masking device was employed so as to not cause undue alarm until official Contact Announcement. Human was led to believe that our emissary was a harmless herbivore. It is recommended that these animals [local designation DEER] be studied so they can be employed as masking devices should further close contacts be deemed desirable. As these animals are known to be fearful of and possibly hostile to humans, it is suggested that they be recruited to our cause. This would give further sightings deniability if desired.
